Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, expects that the Law on Elections of the People´s Deputies of Ukraine will be adopted next summer.
"I expect that this law will be adopted not sooner than in summer, at the next session. The Law might be adopted in the end of the coming session," Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated in the interview to Interfaks-Ukraina news agency.
More than thirty bills on the electoral system and nearly ten bills on the election-related issues have been registered in the Parliament. On a commission from the President of Ukraine, a working group was set up to draft the laws on the elections of the People´s Deputies, the presidential and the local elections. "These laws should make up an Election Code," he stated. Moreover, two draft Election Codes have been brought forward. "Still, newly-registered bills can be scrutinized, provided the bills mentioned are rejected," V.Lytvyn declared.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that the media were claiming actually pre-term parliamentary elections. "Such a scenario is convenient for those dissatisfied with the adoption of the Tax Code, those willing to get to the Parliament, and the ones with the seasonal rating and serious financial obligations", he stated.
